According to Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat, fullback Fred Beasley's days with the San Francisco 49ers may be numbered. The team is not likely to make much of an effort to re-sign Beasley and he will become an unrestricted free agent on March 3rd. Instead, the team would rather re-sign free agent fullback Chris Hetherington.

Beasley has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff and saw his playing time drastically reduced during the 2005 season. He was drafted by the 49ers in 1998 out of Auburn and impressed the coaching staff so much that they were willing to trade their starter, Marc Edwards, before the 1999 season.

Beasley has started 80 games for the 49ers.
