The Press Democrat reports that free agent cornerback Walt Harris is expected to visit with the San Francisco 49ers soon. At 5'11" and 190 lbs, Harris has 10 years of NFL experience. He spent his first six years with the Chicago Bears, two with the Indianapolis Colts and his last two seasons with the Washington Redskins.
Harris overcame knee surgery in the 2004 offseason to play in 16 games with two starts, recording 21 tackles (12 solo), two interceptions and one forced fumble. He has played in at least 12 games during each of his 10 seasons and has 20 career interceptions.
Interest in TE Aaron Shea
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the San Francisco 49ers have expressed an interest in free agent Aaron Shea. The 6'3" 248 lb tight end has spent the last 6 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He has played in 65 games, pulled in 97 catches for 851 yards and 7 touchdowns during his career.
49ers pursue safety Chris Hope
The San Francisco 49ers hope to visit with free safety Chris Hope, a member of Pittsburgh's Super Bowl-winning team, sometime this week.
When 49ers.com asked if the team is pursuing Hope and whether he be coming in for a visit, Nolan said, "Yes we are. I don't have it set. I anticipate it in the next few days." FOXSports.com also reports that Hope will visit sometime this week.
Last season, Hope had 96 tackles in 16 games with 3 interceptions. He has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh and would be a big addition to the 49ers secondary.
Peterson to visit Seahawks
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that the Seattle Seahawks have scheduled a visit with free agent linebacker Julian Peterson. Peterson has not drawn as much free agency interest as previously anticipated. However, if only two or three teams become interested, it could increase his value and make it tougher for the 49ers to re-sign the linebacker. Nolan has stated that he would not be against Peterson's return to the team if he could be signed for the right price.
49ers meet with Lal Heneghan again
The Press Democrat also reports that the 49ers have once again met with former Cleveland Browns executive Lal Heneghan. Heneghan has previously interviewed with the team for the open high-level front-office position.
