The San Francisco 49ers return to the friendly confines of Candlestick Park to host the Miami Dolphins, marking the first matchup between the clubs since 2008. The 49ers trail in the all-time series 5-6.

Linebacker Aldon Smith recorded sack number 17.5 for 2012, tying Hall of Fame Fred Dean's 49ers single-season sack record. Smith now has 31.5 career sacks passing Reggie White (31.0) for the most sacks by a player in their first two years in NFL history. Running back Frank Gore rushed for his 49th career touchdown, putting him one behind running back Joe perry (50) and running back Roger Craig (50) for the most in franchise history.

The Dolphins (5-7) are coming off of a 23-16 loss to the New England Patriots.
