A deal between Ed Reed and the Houston Texans may be getting closer to being agreed upon. Reed spent today visiting with the Texans, who are aggressively pursuing the free agent safety from the Baltimore Ravens.

John McCain, who covered the NFL for the Houston Chronicle, thinks that Reed will be spending the night in Houston and that the two sides will reach an agreement on Friday.

It was reported that Reed may have next visited with the San Francisco 49ers, who were rumored to be very interested in him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter had the following to add on Twitter.

The 34 year old Reed was drafted in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He has been selected to nine Pro Bowls, was the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award winner, and holds the all-time NFL record for interception return yards, currently at 1,506.

Listed at 5-11 and 205 lbs, Reed had 58 tackles, 4 interceptions and a touchdown last season.
