NFL Network is reporting that free agent safety Ed Reed has left the Houston Texans' building without a deal. Nothing expected today. One source predicted that Ed Reed would shop the deal around, but that he will eventually get something done with Houston.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora said this on Twitter:

The San Francisco 49ers have been linked to Ed Reed's name during free agency. Although, it is unknown how much interest the team has in Reed. Earlier this week, La Canfora said that should Reed not sign with the Texans, a visit to the 49ers may follow.

The 34 year old Reed was drafted in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He has been selected to nine Pro Bowls, was the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award winner, and holds the all-time NFL record for interception return yards, currently at 1,506.

Listed at 5-11 and 205 lbs, Reed had 58 tackles, 4 interceptions and a touchdown last season.
