The San Francisco 49ers announced today that the team has brought back one fan favorite and released another. They re-signed wide receiver and special teams player Kassim Osgood to a one-year contract.

To make room for Osgood, the team released third string quarterback Josh Johnson.

Osgood, who is not 34 years old, debuted in 2003 after being signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers out of San Diego State.

He was originally signed by the 49ers on June 4, 2013. He was among the team's final August 31st cuts prior to the start of the 2013 season.

Osgood was re-signed by the team on September 11, 2013. He would later be let go.

He would once again be signed on March 24, 2014 and waived on August 30, 2014.

Osgood was once again signed on September 9, 2014 before being released two days ago, on October 8, 2014.
