San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke announced today that defensive lineman Ray McDonald is being released be the team.

Baalke stated that McDonald's pattern of poor decision-making is reason the 49ers have decided to terminate his contract.

It was revealed today that McDonald is being investigated for possible sexual assault. Based on the allegations, police obtained a search warrant anew searched his home on Tuesday.

Last month, McDonald was cleared of domestic abuse charges involving his pregnant fiancée. That incident took place in August and created backlash from the media and multiple rights groups who believed that McDonald should not have been playing while the investigation was taking place.
