According to San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula, Erik Pears will start for the team at right tackle as the team begins their mandatory minicamp today. Tomsula also stated that Alex Boone will start at right guard.

However, different combinations will be used during minicamp as the coaching staff tries to identify starters along the offensive line following Friday's surprise retirement of tackle Anthony Davis. Davis said that he would be taking a year or two off to get healthy after multiple injuries, including a concussion, that caused him to miss nine games in 2014.

Pears, a free agent acquisition, has spent time with the Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos. He was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2005 after playing college football at Colorado State.

The 49ers will kick off their practices inside of Levi's Stadium, rather than at the team's practice facility which sits across the street.
