According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the San Francisco 49ers have informed cornerback Chris Cook that he has been released.

Cook signed with the 49ers in March of 2014 as a free agent from the Minnesota Vikings. In March of this year, they brought him back on another one-year deal that included $650,000 guaranteed.

In October, Cook was placed on IR after suffering a torn hamstring in a game against the Denver Broncos. He played in six games for the 49ers and accounted for six tackles and one pass defended.

Cook was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft and started 29 games over his first four seasons there.
