The San Francisco 49ers beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-6 in their exhibition home opener on Sunday night at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Running back Jarryd Hayne added another 54 yards rushing to his preseason resume. He also had three punt returns for 84 total yards. The defense looked solid with four sacks and three interceptions.

The 49ers' 303-pound defensive lineman Mike Purcell picked off a Dustin Vaughan pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown.

The 49ers' other touchdown came when Quinton Patton blocked a fourth-quarter punt and grabbed the ball in the end zone for the score.

NaVorro Bowman, who played in a football game for the first time in 581 days, ended the night with three tackles.
