When asked who he thought would win the Super Bowl, Jerry replied, “I’m going with the Colts. I picked them to be in the Super Bowl. I also picked Dallas, but Dallas came up a little short. Now they don’t have a head coach. Y’know, Bill Parcells, he decided to walk away. I think Terrell [Owens] ran him out of the Big D. But, I got to go with the Colts because I feel like it’s time for Peyton Manning.
Anchor Michaela Pereira then asked, “How does a class act like you feel about a guy like Terrell?” Rice replied by saying, “I thought I passed the torch on to him the right way, but somewhere, he lost it…He leaves San Francisco, goes to Philly. Him and Donovan McNabb, they get into it, then onto Dallas and it’s still going on so I am a little disappointed by it.”
Entertainment reporter Sam Rubin then asked if Rice ever feels compelled to call Owens up and ask, “Hey, what’s the deal with you?” Rice said, “I would love to do that, but I don’t think he is going to listen. Y’know, Bill Parcells couldn’t get through to him and I think that’s why Bill Parcells decided to walk away.”
Later in the show, anchor Carlos Amezcua asked the popular question, “Who was the better quarterback? Joe Montana or Steve Young?” Rice laughed and said, “You know what? I think that I would have to go with Joe Montana. And I am fortunate to have had two Hall of Famers to play with me and these guys, they made my job easy.”
