Concerned about the violence that occurred following the San Francisco 49ers' home opening victory over the Minnesota Vikings on September 14 when a Vikings fan was beaten by several 49ers fans, the Santa Clara City Council is suggesting that the city consider halting alcohol sales at halftime.

Four people that took part in the September 14 beating have been arrested.

They have asked that time be set aside at Tuesday's council meeting to discuss safety concerns and solutions, including the addition of the number of police officers assigned to the stadium.

"We have 70,000 fans, and less than a tenth of a percent are a problem," says Santa Clara Police Chief Michael Sellers. "There is an element that will still behave badly."
