Update: ProFootballTalk.com is now reporting that because of Norv Turner's demands, Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is suddenly a top candidate again.

According to ESPN.com, San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator, Norv Turner, does not feel that Jason Garrett is ready to be an offensive coordinator and that is what is holding up Turner's hire in Dallas. Garrett, who interviewed for the head coaching job in Dallas, was hired, but not as the head coach. He is expected to be the offensive coordinator.

Turner would prefer to make assistant head coach/offensive line coach, Tony Sparano, the offensive coordinator and use Garrett in some other capacity.

Jerry Jones has said that he will not name the Cowboys' next head coach until today at the earliest.

ProFootballTalk.com, a popular rumor site, believes that Jones is looking for someone that he can bully. Turner does not fit that profile.

From ProFootballTalk:
Moreover, a growing number of league insiders believe that Turner is only getting a serious sniff in Dallas because owner Jerry Jones wants a guy whom he can bully, so that Jones can act like the quasi-coach of the team. If this is true, then it's unlikely that Jones will give in to Turner's reported request.
