The 49ers are coming off of a 20-3 loss against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams are coming off of a 24-6 win against the Cleveland Browns.
Defensively, San Francisco registered five sacks against Seattle, marking the second time this season the team had five sacks in a game. LB Aaron Lynch had two of those sacks on Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, marking his second multi-sack game of the season. LB Ahmad Brooks brought Wilson down twice, while DT Quinton Dial registered his first sack of the season and third of his career.
The 49ers defense also intercepted Wilson twice as CB Tramaine Brock and CB Kenneth Acker each registered their third interception of the season. Acker has registered interceptions in consecutive games.
While the season may seem just as dismal for the Rams, there is some excitement surrounding rookie RB Todd Gurley. Only a month into his career, Gurley already ranks 12th in the league in rushing yards. He is averaging 6 yards-per-carry and is looking for his fourth consecutive 100+ yard rushing game of the season. He has averaged over 144 yards-per-game during his last three starts and averaged nearly 6.4 yards-per-carry during those games.
Kaepernick was sacked six times by the Seahawks – the second-most he has had in a game during his career. He had a minus-1.3 rating from Pro Football Focus. The Rams rank second in the NFL in sacks.
What the Rams Are Saying
"Anquan is Anquan. He's hard to cover. He's a hard matchup. Torrey (Smith) is a great acquisition there who can go and he's proven he can make the big play down the field. That's with the tight ends and the run game." – Rams head coach Jeff Fisher on the 49ers' offense
"I have a ton of respect for Bruce, and the reason is that he's so versa- tile for them. He's a phenomenal blocker. When they ask him to lead up like a true fullback, he's really physical and he tries to get after you a little bit. He finishes every block. He's one of those players, so to speak, that you can't say he's just a fullback. That's not the case with him because he's super athletic and so, you constantly have to be aware of what he's doing and what his stance is and really have great vision because if you don't, he'll burn you." – Rams LB James Laurinaitis on FB Bruce Miller
