CB Kenneth Acker is going through the league concussion protocol this week. Acker came away from Sunday's 27-6 loss against the Rams with what was reported as an injury to his ribs and neck. However, the way he was feeling during the week prompted the team to have him go through the protocol. TE Garrett Celek is also going through the concussion protocol.
RB Carlos Hyde and WR Anquan Boldin, who both missed Sunday's game, are day-to-day.
Tomsula wished the best to former 49ers TE Vernon Davis, who was traded to the Denver Broncos on Monday. "We said goodbye to a good Niner. A guy that has done a lot here."

Jim Tomsula Discusses QB Change for Week 9
As for the quarterback situation, Tomsula met with them on Monday and made the decision bench QB Colin Kaepernick and go with QB Blaine Gabbert. It was a tough decision, but he felt that it was the direction that they needed to go. "It's this week. Going into Atlanta, Blaine Gabbert will be our quarterback," said Tomsula when asked if this was a temporary change or a permanent one.
"In no way is 2-6 all on Colin Kaepernick. That's all of us," Tomsula added. "I want Colin to step back and breath," he said – which may indicate that the team has left the door open for him to return to his former starting role. Tomsula stated that the decision to bench Kaepernick was 100% his. He talked to the coaches and then went upstairs and let management know what his decision was. "Colin will be a wonderful teammate," stated Tomsula when asked how the quarterback took the news.
He was asked if there would be any other lineup changes, like to the offensive line. "We're looking at some combinations and looking at some things throughout the team," Tomsula responded.
As for Gabbert, based off what the team has seen during preseason and in practice, Tomsula said, "He has done nothing but improve."
