San Francisco 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert was viciously hit in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Falcons. The concussion spotter in the press box called for Gabbert to be examined and Colin Kaepernick went in at quarterback.

The ineffective Kaepernick was benched earlier in the week in favor of Gabbert, who until being pulled, had completed 14 of 23 passes for 172 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, which was more the fault of WR Jerome Simpson than Gabbert.

Gabbert would re-enter the game during the same drive, relieving Kaepernick who entered and left the field to boos from the Levi's Stadium fans.
