QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson will be signing with the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad said a source to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, who also first reported that it was Bethel-Thompson that would work out for the team today.

Bethel-Thompson spent time with the 49ers during training camp in 2011. He was alter claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. He has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots during his career and played college football at UCLA before transferring to Sacramento State.

On Saturday, the 49ers placed QB Colin Kaepernick on the injured reserve list with a torn labrum in left shoulder and promoted QB Dylan Thompson from the practice squad. Kaepernick will have surgery on his shoulder on Tuesday morning in Colorado. The recovery time is expected to be between four and six months.
