San Francisco 49ers TE Vance McDonald was hit in the back of the helmet by the knee of a Bears defender during the second quarter in Chicago. The hit took place after a 12-yard catch by McDonald. According to Cam Inman of The Mercury News, he appeared dazed after walking to the 49ers sideline. According to the FOX broadcast team, the medical staff appeared to checking him for a possible concussion to see if it is safe for him to return.

Blake Bell is the 49ers' only other active tight end in Chicago.

Later on the same drive, the 49ers would score on a 1-yard run by RB Shaun Draughn to tie the game 13-13.
