York has reportedly been part of every interview during this head coaching hiring process. This is interesting because during his press conference following the season, York had indicated that Baalke would be leading the coach search.
The 69-year old Coughlin had been the Giants head coach since 2004. Before that, he was the first head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has a career coaching record of 181-153 and has two Super Bowl championships (XLII, XLVI) as a head coach and another as an assistant on his resume.
Trent Baalke and Tom Coughlin are both Bills Parcells protégés. Coughlin worked for Parcells as the receivers coach with the Giants from 1988 through 1990. Baalke worked under Parcells as a scout with the New York Jets in the late 1990s. In fact, it was Parcells that Baalke wanted to hire during the team's coaching search in 2011.
