Aguayo, who is 21, skipped his senior year to enter the NFL Draft. He was the first kicker to do so in 16 years and left college football as the all-time most accurate kicker, completing 96.7 percent of his attempts.
The 49ers currently have two kickers on their roster. Veteran Phil Dawson is entering his 19th season and his fourth with San Francisco. He made the Pro Bowl in 2012 with the Cleveland Browns and has a 84.5 percent field goal percentage and turned 41 in January. The 49ers also have Corey Acosta on the roster.
In 2015, Dawson completed 88.9 percent of his field goals. He has completed a higher percentage only three other times during his career.
The possibility of the 49ers drafting a kicker is not out of the realm of possibility. Last year, the team drafted punter Bradley Pinion out of Clemson to compete with seasoned veteran and Pro Bowl punter Andy Lee. Andy Lee was eventually traded to Cleveland and Pinion became the starter.
