NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that former Cleveland Browns quarterback coach Kevin O'Connell has joined the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff beginning this week at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The 49ers brought in Ryan Day from the Philadelphia Eagles to coach the quarterbacks, so it is unknown what role O'Connell will play.

He only has one year of coaching experience. Prior to that, he spent five years as a quarterback after being selected in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He also spent time with the Detroit Lions, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and San Diego Chargers before calling it quits in 2012.
