This latest report disputes and earlier one by Ian Rapoport that both the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns may be interested in trading for Kaepernick. However, it does not mean that the Texans would not be interested in the quarterback should he be released, just that they are uninterested in a trade.
Earlier today, a report by Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com stated that the Browns are not interested in trading for Kaepernick "at this time."
"The Browns are expected to draft either North Dakota State's Carson Wentz or Cal's Jared Goff at No. 2, but have said they'll explore all options to improve the team," says Cabot.
Both general manager Trent Baalke and new head coach Chip Kelly stated this week that, to their knowledge, Kaepernick wants to be in San Francisco and the 49ers want him there. Baalke even went as far as saying that Kaepernick would "absolutely" be on the team's roster come April 1, a deadline that guarantees him his $11.9 million base salary. Kelly spoke enthusiastically about the possibility of working with Kaepernick this offseason.
Then a report emerged that Kaepernick's agents had requested permission to find trade partners for their client, a request that San Francisco has not yet responded to.
Even team CEO Jed York chimed in while speaking to The Mercury News saying that his last conversation with Kaepernick was good and that the team hoped for him to be part of their 2016 plans.
