According to Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, San Francisco 49ers kicker Phil Dawson will be returning to the team on a one-year contract.

Dawson has been with the 49ers since 2013. "A person with direct knowledge of the agreement says kicker Phil Dawson has reached a one-year contract to remain with the San Francisco 49ers for 2016," McCauley says in her report. A formal announcement by the 49ers is expected on Saturday.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports the one-year deal being worth $3.134 million in total salary.

Dawson, who turned 41 in January, is getting ready to enter his 18th season in the NFL. He converted 24 of 27 field goals in 2015 and has an 85.4 percent career completion percentage.

Prior to coming to San Francisco, Dawson spent 14 seasons with the Cleveland Browns, making the Pro Bowl in 2012.
