Giddings named the 49ers among the "young, exciting" teams that should be significant factors within their divisions. "Believe it or not, a team in the NFC West would be interesting to watch would be San Francisco," he says. "They had the two off years the last two years, but I think they could be another team that's in the mix."
Giddings has spent time as an NFL assistant coach, personnel man, and the head coach at University of Utah and within the short-lived World Football League in the 70s. Following his stint with Utah, he was an assistant with the 49ers from 1968 until 1973 and the Denver Broncos from 1976 until 1981.
