Joshua Garnett
49ers offensive guard Joshua Garnett remains the only unsigned member of San Francisco's rookie class. He is one of just two first round selections to remain unsigned with their respective teams. The other would be San Diego Chargers first round selection Joey Bosa.
Earlier today, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media stated that there was "no issue" with Garnett's status and that the signing is likely imminent.
"I think it will end up being a situation like the one between the Jets and their first-round pick Darron Lee – he'll get signed on the eve of training camp," said Barrows.
Tank Carradine
"The 49ers played [Tank Carradine] exclusively at outside linebacker in the spring," said Barrows while answering a question about Carradine, who is headed into his fourth season. "Since then, the only thing that's changed is that Aaron Lynch has been suspended four games. So I'd imagine Tank stays there this summer."
Players' acceptance of Chip Kelly
Barrows was asked about how 49ers players have responded to new head coach Chip Kelly so far. All reports this offseason have stated that the players have been very accepting of Kelly, his scheme, and the direction that the team is headed.
"So far, it's been good to very good," answered Barrows. "The team leaders – from [NaVorro] Bowman to Torrey Smith to [Joe] Staley – all have embraced the change. That attitude has trickled down to the rank and file. The phrase 'all in' was used several times in the spring. However, it's notable that that sentiment was common in Philadelphia early on, too. Three years later, the Eagles definitely were not 'all in.'"
Anthony Davis' reinstatement
Nobody seems to know when Anthony Davis will be cleared by the league to join the 49ers following the submission of his paperwork for reinstatement. The team likely hopes for him to be available for the start of the 49ers' training camp this weekend. Obviously it would be beneficial to have him there early to see where he is physically and to get him up to speed. The team's medical staff will spend Saturday looking over players.
"Nobody seems to know how quickly the league will act on this request. The league office says there is no set timeline," said Barrows. "I'd imagine that Drew Rosenhaus, who is Davis' agent, sent the paperwork in on Monday with the hope that it would be resolved by the end of the week. We shall see."
Could the 49ers trade for a receiver?
"Yes, absolutely," Barrows answered to the possibility of the team trading for a receiver. "Obviously, it will be interesting to see who Philly cuts at the end of the preseason. Does someone like Josh Huff, who played for Kelly at Oregon, make the 53-man squad?"
