San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick both spent time following the team's first practice of training camp on Sunday to speak with the media. Of course, much of the discussion focused around the quarterback competition that the two are involved in.

"This is not my first quarterback competition and it definitely won't be my last," Gabbert said during his time at the podium.

Kaepernick stated that it felt good to be back on the field, to get into the offense and get comfortable with it. "I think a lot of the mental reps that I took in the spring really helped me today and helped me during minicamp," said Kaepernick. "It's another chance to compete."

"Best man is going to get the job regardless," said Gabbert. "Dwelling on it is not going to do any good."

Kaepernick also discussed the process of regaining his weight following his rehab from surgery and was asked where he is now. "Right where it needs to be," answered Kaepernick. "Feel good. Feels great to compete. Excited for what's to come."

Kaepernick went on to say that there was a lot of weight that he needed to get back and a lot of mobility that he needed to keep, but that he feels ready to go now. "I don't look like my high school self anymore," Kaepernick joked.
