San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde suffered a concussion during the first quarter of the team's preseason game against the Green Bay Packers at Levi's Stadium on Friday night. He is now in the league's concussion protocol and will be closely monitored during the upcoming week.

Hyde cannot participate in team practices until he has been cleared to do so. It was unlikely that he would have played against the San Diego Chargers in the 49ers' preseason finale next Thursday. He was seen leaving the field with team doctors during the second half of Friday night's loss.

Hyde led the team in rushing against the Packers. He had 30 yards on four carries in his limited play, with one of those carries being a 27-yard run to set up the team's only touchdown of the night.

Following the game, head coach Chip Kelly did not have an update on the injuries to WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) and DE Quinton Dial (knee). Both were ruled OUT on Friday night following their injuries.

The 49ers open up the regular season at home against the Los Angeles Rams on September 12.
