As most know, Kaepernick has been protesting the National Anthem this season by not standing with his teammates during the pre-game tradition. The reaction from teammates and fans has been mixed. Although, he was able to at explain his motivation to his teammates and then again to the media on Sunday. Many support his right to not take part in the National Anthem, but also disagree with the lack of respect that it displays.
What did Kaepernick's former coach have to say about the quarterback's decision? "I acknowledge his right to do that. But I don't respect the motivation or the action," said Harbaugh via Mark Snyder, who covers University of Michigan football for the Detroit Free Press.
Harbaugh, now the head coach at the University of Michigan, remains a popular figure to many 49ers fans. He has not shied away from offering his opinion on 49ers matters following the messy divorce from the team after the 2014 season. Although, he is often cryptic with his comments.
Update:
Harbaugh took to Twitter to clarify his previous statement a bit. "To clarify, I support Colin's motivation. It's his method of action that I take exception to," said the former 49ers head coach.
