The San Francisco 49ers recently hosted LSU safety Jamal Adams, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The 49ers are permitted to host up to 30 players for visits at the team's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Visitors to the team's headquarters are not allowed to work out for the team unless they are local prospects.

Adams was also among the numerous prospects to meet with the 49ers during the NFL Scouting Combine, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle. The 49ers currently hold the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, which kicks off on April 27 in Philadelphia.

Adams, the son of former New York Giants running back and Super Bowl champion George Adams, compiled 209 tackles, with 18 for a loss, two sacks, five interceptions, 14 passes defended, and two forced fumbles with the Tigers. As a junior in 2016, he had 76 tackles, a sack, one interception, and a forced fumble.

Pro Football Focus stats to know: 33 tackles resulting in a defensive stop were tied for seventh among safeties in college in 2016

Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Adams to Darren Woodson, had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Interchangeable safety with a sheriff's mentality. Adams is a physical tone-setter who should thrive near the line of scrimmage or in a robber role. Should be a commanding presence in the locker room early on and his do-as-I-do play demeanor could be the catalyst for turning a struggling defense around quickly."

Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Adams is a versatile safety with the ability to line up all over the field in multiple schemes. He needs to improve his ball skills and coverage technique but should be a Day 1 starter whose best football is ahead of him."
