San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, who separated his shoulder during the team's exhibition opener against the Dallas Cowboys, appears to be on track for his Week 1 return to the football field. According to multiple reports, he took part in some individual drills during Tuesday's practice but didn't run routes.

Tackle Garry Gilliam returned to practice after a good deal of time within the concussion protocol. He, like Kittle, has missed the 49ers' last two exhibition games.

Running backs Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida looked good during individual conditioning, according to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group. McKinnon is recovering from a calf injury while Breida, like Kittle, separated his shoulder during the first preseason game.

The two were on a side field getting some work in against a blocking sled, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic.

Linebacker Reuben Foster is in the concussion protocol and is unlikely to play on Thursday. He, obviously, did not practice.

Running back Joe Williams (rib) was not suited up for practice.

Veteran Joe Staley received the day off from practice. As the starter at left tackle, he is unlikely to play on Thursday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
