Richard Sherman has been a vocal opponent of the NFL's new targeting rule. He has publicly criticized the new policy while arguing that it is impossible to change the way a defender tackles.
The online series "NFL Life" has focused on the San Francisco 49ers cornerback. Part four debuted this week with an extended look at Sherman going against the Indianapolis Colts during his first preseason action since an Achilles injury last November.
During the latest episode, fans are given a look at Sherman passionately stating his case to a referee after 49ers linebacker Mark Nzeocha was flagged with a 'Lowering the Head to Initiate Contact' penalty while tackling Colts running back Christine Michael.
"This rule is a fundamental change to the game and an impossible fundamental change," Sherman recently told Adam Schefter of ESPN. "I have no idea how they're going to solve it or police it. No matter how they do it, it will ruin the game. The first call that they make, illegal at the head or whatever the rule is, it's going to start to deteriorate our game."
