Sorry Niner Faithful. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin isn't making any promises on whether or not he'll play on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers visit the Kansas City Chiefs. He's merely focused on this week's practices.
Unlike last week, Goodwin was on the field when the 49ers kicked off practice on Wednesday. Although, he was limited. The receiver is working his way back from a deep thigh contusion suffered during Week 1 in Minnesota.
"Just taking it a day at a time, see where it goes," Goodwin told reporters in the locker room before practice.
Goodwin's injury forced him to watch from the sidelines this past Sunday as his teammates escaped with a 30-27 victory over the Detroit Lions.
"It's just unfortunate that I couldn't be out there last week, but I definitely had my mouth going out there," Goodwin said. "I was trying to coach as best as I could and help in another role other than being out on the field.
"I wish that I could play every game (at) full health. Unfortunately, the game that we play in this league, it's hard to do that. I look forward to moving forward, working with my team, getting better, and pushing towards getting ready for this week."
Goodwin was also asked about the Chiefs' speedster, wideout Tyreek Hill. Who does Goodwin believe is the faster of the two?
He responded: "I don't compare myself to anybody, but I mean..."
That's when Goodwin paused, rolled up his sleeve, and showed reporters his tattoo of the Olympic rings. He was a member of the United States track and field team and finished tenth in the long jump at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

"I ain't saying nothing," Goodwin added while smiling. "You take that wherever you want to take it."
