The San Francisco 49ers host the visiting Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. Wide receiver will be a bit short for the Niners, particularly with Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis out.
The following players won't suit up for the San Francisco 49ers during their Week 5 bout against the winless Arizona Cardinals:
WR Marquise Goodwin
WR Dante Pettis
DB Jimmie Ward
G Joshua Garnett
DT Jullian Taylor
T Shon Coleman
DT D.J. Jones
Goodwin being out isn't a surprise, as he was questionable with a quad injury throughout the week and was limited in practice. And earlier reports Sunday indicated he wouldn't play anyway. Jimmie Ward (hamstring) didn't practice during the week either.
It is a bit interesting, however, to see Joshua Garnett inactive after being cleared from a toe injury suffered in Week 1. Garnett was a full participant at practice, and Week 5 would have marked his first return to the field since suffering his injury.
Cornerback Richard Sherman, who suffered a calf injury during the Niners' Week 3 road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, is expected to play after missing last week. So are safeties Adrian Colbert (hip) and Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder), who missed San Francisco's Week 4 bout with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The 49ers and Cardinals kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
