Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman told reporters on Thursday that his agent hasn't heard anything from the San Francisco 49ers about a potential trade. Sherman, of course, represents himself, so if anyone would know about a trade scenario, it would probably be him.

"They've said since I came here that I was part of the future plans, at least for the next couple of years, and that's the way we see it," Sherman said. "That's the way I see it."

Sherman plans to be part of the 49ers for at least the length of the three-year contract he signed back in March. That is also how general manager John Lynch, who joined KNBR on Friday morning, sees things. He expects Sherman to be around after Tuesday's trade deadline and beyond.

"Sherm's not going anywhere," Lynch said on the "Murph & Mac" show. "We love what he's brought to us. He's been getting better each week. Unfortunately, last week, with his condition with both Achilles, he ran into a bump in the road last week. Unfortunately, we didn't have him out there and when you're missing other players, and you miss a guy like Sherm, that hurts you as a team. But he's doing a nice job getting himself healthy.

"We love what he brings in terms of the knowledge. He's not wavered at all. People can look out there and see this is what an All-Pro football player, a champion looks like. His football IQ is off the charts. He's been a tremendous leader for us, so Sherm's going to be a part of us this year, hopefully moving forward, and we're thrilled to have him. We're lucky to have him."

Sherman has been dealing with a calf injury that has forced him to miss two games, including this past weekend's loss to the undefeated Los Angeles Rams. He seemed somewhat confident that he will play on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. If not, then likely next Thursday against the Oakland Raiders.

"I'm going to battle and try to hit both of them, but the body can only do what the body can do," Sherman said.
