General manager John Lynch said on Friday that the San Francisco 49ers were busy working the phones as Tuesday's trade deadline quickly approached.
"We're having a lot of conversations," Lynch said during a KNBR interview. "I think that's one thing that's just crucial is that you get on the phone and you talk to every team, and that's what's going on around this time."
No news came out of Santa Clara as the deadline came and went. After reports surfaced on Sunday morning that the 49ers were having discussions with other teams about wide receiver Pierre Garçon and defensive back Jimmie Ward, San Francisco didn't make any moves to either part with or add players.
"I know our guys are working their tails off," Shanahan told reporters about 20 minutes before Tuesday's deadline. "They're on the phones, and they'll be doing that all the way up to the time but as of right now, [nothing is imminent]."
The undefeated Los Angeles Rams were once again aggressive in improving their roster. The sent a 2019 third-round draft pick and a 2020 fifth-rounder to the Jacksonville Jaguars for pass rusher Dante Fowler, a player many 49ers fans were hoping would land in San Francisco.
The 49ers defense ranks No. 25 (tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) in the NFL with just 16 total sacks this season.
The following are other notable trades which took place on Tuesday (all draft picks are from 2019 unless otherwise noted):
WR Golden Tate
Traded from the Lions to the Eagles for a third-round pick.
WR Demaryius Thomas
Traded from the Broncos to the Texans for a fifth-round pick and an exchange of seventh-round picks.
RB Ty Montgomery
Traded from the Packers to the Ravens for a 2020 seventh-round pick.
Traded from the Packers to the Redskins for a fourth-round pick.
