The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders plan to mix things up. Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers have been working with the South squad this week in preparation for the Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday while Jon Gruden and the Raiders work with the North squad.

Raiders defensive coordinator Paul Guenther told reporters that the two coaching staffs and executives plan to swap rosters for a few hours on Friday. The move will allow each team to interview prospects from the opposing rosters and review film as part of their evaluation processes.

News of the roster swap comes from Las Vegas Review-Journal beat writer Michael Gehiken.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 49ers and Raiders held their second of three practices this week and will wrap up the on-field sessions on Thursday.

"The advantage of [the Senior Bowl] for the coaches who get to coach it is you're not just going off an interview at Indy at the combine," Shanahan told reporters in Mobile, Alabama on Tuesday. "You get to be with these guys all week. You get to see how they learn, how they get better in their first practice today (Tuesday) until tomorrow (Wednesday).

"By the end of the week, at least the guys at the Senior Bowl, you should have a very good feel of who they are as people."

Friday's roster swap will give the 49ers and Raiders yet another advantage over the 30 other teams represented in Mobile this week.
