The San Francisco 49ers were expected to select a wide receiver with their first selection of the second round on Friday, and the team did not disappoint.

The 49ers added Deebo Samuel of South Carolina with the No. 36 overall pick. He joins receivers like Marquise Goodwin, Jordan Matthews, last year's second-round pick, Dante Pettis, and others.

No 49ers wide receiver reached 500 yards last season. San Francisco has now used at least one selection to add a wide receiver during each of the past 17 drafts.

Below are some of the reactions from Samuel's new NFL teammates after the selection was announced.

Samuel was also welcomed by 49ers offensive assistant Katie Sowers.

Here is the announcement of the selection, which was made by Earl Cooper and the son of late 49ers scout Reggie Cobb.
