General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan received a lot of criticism for using a fourth-round draft pick on punter Mitch Wishnowsky. The complaints from fans had more to do with the San Francisco 49ers using such a high draft pick on a punter than issues with Wishnowsky himself.
That selection spot puts a lot of pressure on Wishnowsky to perform at a high level. It sounds like he is doing just that based solely on his most recent practice. The 49ers kicked off their second week of organized team activities and allowed reporters to observe Wednesday's practice.
How did Wishnowsky do? Below is the latest punter report from Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
#49ers practice note: Rookie punter Mitch Wishnowsky went 6-for-6 on plus-50 punts inside the 10-yard line, including two that were downed inside the 3-yard line.

The Arizona Cardinals claimed defensive end/linebacker Pita Taumoepenu off waivers on Wednesday. The move comes a day after the 49ers waived the third-year defender to bring back veteran cornerback Dontae Johnson.
The 49ers made Taumoepenu a sixth-round selection out of Utah in 2017. He registered three combined tackles through four games with the 49ers in 2018.
