Several San Francisco 49ers teammates were in attendance for defensive lineman Arik Armstead's charity gala over the weekend. The event raised over $100,000 for underserved youth in the Sacramento area.
Among the teammates on hand was cornerback Richard Sherman, who helped with the bidding on an autographed painting of himself. Sherman donated the painting to the cause. Not only was he on the stage helping show off the self-portrait, he even ran back to his seat several times to bid on the item himself.
The painting was eventually won by another bidder but Sherman did his part to ensure it brought in top dollar.
Below is a video of Sherman helping with the bidding, courtesy of Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Other 49ers players in attendance included DeForest Buckner, Ahkello Witherspoon, Ronald Blair, Jaquiski Tartt, and Sheldon Day.
The painting of Sherman was one of several sports-related items up for auction. Others included autographed jerseys of Bay Area stars Steph Curry, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jerry Rice, and Roger Craig.
