Yesterday, it was revealed that Seattle Seahawks free agent cornerback Walter Thurmond III would be visiting with the San Francisco 49ers today. Thurmond broke the news himself on Twitter. A move like signing Thurmond were certainly add fuel to the fire that is the 49ers and Seahawks rivalry.

Thurmond was originally scheduled to also visit the Washington Redskins today, however, according to Redskins Insider Chris Russell, that visit has been called off.

However, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area (@MaioccoCSN), the 49ers are already comfortable with corners Chris Culliver and Tramaine Brock as the starters for the season. The team is even willing to re-sign free agent cornerback Tarell Brown for around $10 million over 3-years. Obviously, Brown is looking to see if he can find someone willing to pay him more, and the Miami Dolphins' name has popped up as a team that may be interested. Of course, it is unknown how strong their interest is.

The other big news is that New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who is a Bay Area native, is scheduled to visit the 49ers today. The 27 year old was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Last season with the Patriots, he had 105 catches for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns.

Also on the 49ers' radar is New York Giants free agent wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. In five seasons with the Giants, Nicks has had 311 catches for 4,622 yards and 27 touchdowns. The Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, and San Diego Chargers are also reportedly interested in Nicks.
