The NFL can begin flexing Sunday afternoon games to Sunday Night Football for matchups scheduled after this weekend. With the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers scheduled for Week 6's primetime slot, that may happen. In fact, there is a strong chance it happens, according to Steve Berman of The Athletic.
The replacement would be the San Francisco 49ers' matchup in Los Angeles against the Rams, so if you made travel plans, you may want to take note and keep an eye on the developing story.
"I've been told by a media source that there's a strong chance the 49ers' upcoming game in Los Angeles against the Rams will be flexed to 'Sunday Night Football' on NBC," wrote Berman. "The NFL can start flexing games as soon as Week 5 and can flex two games from Weeks 5-10. However, every Sunday night matchup in those weeks looks enticing except the one in Week 6 featuring the Steelers and Chargers, teams that are currently 0-3 and 1-2, respectively."
The NFL has until Tuesday, October 1 to officially announce the schedule change.
