As other NFL squads prepare for their weekend games, the San Francisco 49ers are enjoying their bye week. That has allowed players to get out of town during some time off before returning to practice on Monday.
For quarterback C.J. Beathard and tight end George Kittle, it meant a return trip to their Alma mater, Iowa, for the Hawkeyes' Saturday matchup against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, a game the home team won 48-3.
Beathard and Kittle helped get the Iowa home crowd fired up before kickoff. Well, from the looks of the video below, it was mostly Kittle doing the firing up, which should come as no surprise to 49ers fans given the tight end's always energetic personality.
The 49ers drafted both Beathard and Kittle out of Iowa in 2017. The team made Beathard a third-round pick and selected Kittle in the fifth.
Kittle has emerged as one of the best tight ends in football and earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl after last year's record-breaking season. Beathard is San Francisco's third-string quarterback but has started 10 games during his three NFL seasons.
Kittle and Beathard are in their seventh consecutive season as teammates, counting their collegiate and pro careers.
