The San Francisco 49ers hosted 23-year-old cornerback Quenton Meeks for a visit this week, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Update: The Los Angeles Chargers signed Meeks to their practice squad

Meeks wasn't the only free-agent cornerback to visit with the 49ers this week. The team also hosted Dontae Johnson, David Amerson, Coty Sensabaugh, Saivion Smith, and Teez Tabor this week, and signed Tabor to the practice squad.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Meeks as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2018. The Jaguars waived him on September 1, 2018, and then signed him to the practice squad. Meeks was promoted to the active roster on October 6, 2018, and then waived on August 31.

You might remember Meeks as a prospect many felt the 49ers might select in the later rounds of that draft. He even took part in the team's local pro day on April 18, 2018.

Meeks is a fan of another former Stanford player, Richard Sherman, and has modeled his game after the 49ers All-Pro cornerback. Meeks was asked at the local pro day about the possibility of playing on the same team as Sherman.

"That would be a dream come true just to learn from the best," Meeks told reporters. "I think he's still the best corner in the game right now. It takes someone who really knows how to study corners to see what he does really well. He always disrupts the receivers, the amount of times he gets thrown at in a game is very little. It's because if you throw at him, there's a big chance that it's going to get intercepted."

Meeks appeared in eight games with one start for the Jaguars last season. He recorded eight combined tackles and two passes defensed in 2018.
