San Francisco 49ers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon was on the field warming up with his teammates before tonight's showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers just waived cornerback Dontae Johnson to make room for tight end Garrett Celek, who was activated off of the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
That doesn't mean Witherspoon, who suffered a foot sprain during Week 3, isn't healthy enough to play. Matt Barrows of The Athletic notes that the third-year cornerback feels 100-percent and is expected to make his return to the football field for the 49ers' Week 11 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
Ahkello Witherspoon feels 100 percent and is expected to be back for next week's game against the Cardinals. But he didn't practice in full during the week, which is why he's inactive today.
Witherspoon has to wait six more days to get back on the football field.
