The San Francisco 49ers are involved in a shootout with the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and will likely have to continue without Weston Richburg. The starting center went down during a play in the third quarter with San Francisco down 30-28 and was carted off the field after grabbing at his right leg.
Update: Richburg has been ruled out for the remainder of the game due to knee and ankle injuries.
The injury occurred after Richburg's leg got tangled up with guard Mike Person on the play. Ben Garland replaced Richburg at center.
The San Francisco defense recovered a fumble on the Saints' ensuing drive and proceeded to march down the field to take a 35-30 lead.
#49ers four other offensive line starters lined up to shake hands with Weston Richburg before he was carted to locker room.
Richburg is in his sixth NFL season and his second with San Francisco since joining the team on a five-year deal in March of 2018. He has started all 13 games with the 49ers this season.
