San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has been nominated for the Pepsi Rookie of the Year award.

Bosa racked up 47 tackles, nine sacks, two passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble during his rookie campaign. His sack total ranks third among rookies behind just Josh Allen of the Jacksonville Jaguars (10.5) and Maxx Crosby of the Oakland Raiders (10).

Of those names, however, only Bosa was nominated for the annual honor.

The other nominees for the Pepsi Rookie of the Year award are wide receiver A.J. Brown of the Tennessee Titans, running back Josh Jacobs of the Oakland Raiders, quarterback Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals, and running back Miles Sanders of the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL.com wrote the following about Bosa following his nomination:

"A 2020 Pro Bowl selection, Bosa set a rookie franchise record with 16 tackles for loss, in addition to nine sacks in 2019. He began the season with seven sacks in his first seven games, tied for the second-most by a player in his first seven games since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic. In Week 8, Bosa also joined Julius Peppers (October 13, 2002) and Kevin Williams (December 28, 2003) as the only rookies to record at least three sacks and an interception in a single game since 1982."

Bosa's pass-rushing productivity rating of 9.7 by Pro Football Focus led all rookies, and his 80 pressures are the most ever recorded by the analytics site and 14 more than any other rookie edge defender since 2006, when the site started tracking data.

Bosa finished his regular season with the third-highest pressure percentage and fourth-highest pass-rush win percentage among rookies. His 18 quarterback hits were the second-most by a rookie, behind just Von Miller of the Denver Broncos, who had 21 in 2011.
