Emmanuel Sanders ended up in a good situation. The veteran receiver got traded from the Denver Broncos to the San Francisco 49ers on October 22, and now, he is preparing to play in his third Super Bowl.

Sanders and the 49ers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. San Francisco remains a slight underdog. The media continues to be enamored with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes while underestimating 49ers players like quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

A lot of the pre-Super Bowl chatter this week surrounds the media asking if the 49ers defense, as good as it is, can stop Mahomes and Kansas City's high-powered offense.

The word "speed" has been thrown around once or twice this week when describing the Chiefs.

The 49ers thrive in the underdog role, and it's a situation Sanders is very familiar with.

"Obviously, when you go to a 7-0 team, it's not by coincidence," the receiver explained on Wednesday. "Even though a lot of media outlets were saying that the Niners were pretenders, and they didn't really take us serious. But as we kept chugging along, people started to see.

"I still don't think that they see it yet, which is good, because at the end of the day, I was on a Super Bowl team in '15; it was exactly the same way."

That Super Bowl team in 2015 — the Broncos — ended up winning Super Bowl 50 against the much-hyped Carolina Panthers.

Sanders is hoping history repeats itself.
