Frank Clark took over for Dee Ford as the Kansas City Chiefs' top edge-rusher this season after Ford was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. The two defenders' teams will square off against one another on Sunday in Super Bowl LIV.

Clark spoke of his predecessor on Wednesday, making it clear he isn't fond of Ford due to something he did a year ago — before Clark was even with the Chiefs.

Clark used Wednesday's media opportunity to do a little trash-talking.

"I don't know nothing about him,'' Clark said Tuesday as the Chiefs prepare to face Ford and the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. "I couldn't name a stat. I don't know the school he went to.

"I just know he had lined up offside and anybody who lined up offside at a time like that I feel like that's a dumb penalty at the end of the day. I'm sure he feels the same way. Personally, I've lined up offside before but not in that type of [situation] ... In any [situation], that's just something that shouldn't happen.''

Clark is referring to Ford's fourth-quarter offsides penalty last year against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game that cost the Chiefs a trip to the Super Bowl. The play resulted in a potentially game-sealing interception of Tom Brady that was negated by the penalty.

Ford was asked on Wednesday about Clark's comments. His response was not to respond.

"I don't think anything about it," Ford told ESPN's Josina Anderson. "My response is no response."

So Anderson asked Ford about trash talking in general, and the veteran pass rusher's philosophy on it.

"Some people do it," Ford responded, "some people don't. I choose to talk with my pads and my cleats."

How did #49ers DL Dee Ford respond to #Chiefs DE Frank Clark calling his offsides penalty in the AFCCG against the #Pats that partly cost KC from advancing to the #superbowl last year a "dumb penalty"? Clark also stated about Ford, "I'm not really too fond of Dee Ford"....Ford's response? There was more to it than this video...He spoke on it with more prodding...but everything needs the proper setup too to explain that...Now I had a conversation with one of Ford's teammates who went into more depth on this...you will hear more of that later.. #nfl #football #interview #queen #claimit #sanfrancisco #kanascity #players #trust #relationships #entertainment #sports #miami #trashtalk Both players are great warriors... Can't wait to see how it plays out #Sunday
