Former San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Bryant Young awaits news of his Pro Football Hall of Fame fate. He is, however, guaranteed to enter at least one Class of 2020.
Young will be inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, according to 49ers president Al Guido and as reported by NBC Sports Bay Area. The 49ers officially announced the news soon after.

"The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame will announce its entire 2020 class during the week of February 10th," said Mario Alioto, Chair of the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, via a statement. "Given the timing of the 49ers' success, BASHOF felt it was appropriate to pre-announce the selection of 49ers great, Bryant Young, into our 2020 class. The formal induction banquet will take place on May 11th."
The 49ers made Young the No. 7 overall draft pick out of Notre Dame in 1994. He spent 14 seasons with the team and was crucial in helping San Francisco win Super Bowl XXIX during his rookie campaign.
Young is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was named first-team All-Pro in 1996. He is the 49ers' franchise leader in career sacks with 89.5 and was named to the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.
Young racked up 627 tackles, 20 passes defensed, 12 forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries during his 14-year career, according to Pro Football Reference. He retired in 2007.
Young's Bay Area ties also extend to San Jose State University, where he served as the defensive line coach in 2010.
Other 49ers greats in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame include names like Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Jerry Rice, and Steve Young.
