The San Francisco 49ers players gathered for a team meeting and cleaned out their lockers on Wednesday while speaking to reporters one last time before scattering until the team's offseason program kicks off. Despite taking many by surprise, they are obviously disappointed with how this season ended.
Second-year tackle Mike McGlinchey sees the Super Bowl LIV loss as motivation to be better next season, though.
"I'm really excited for what's coming in the future," McGlinchey told reporters. "It was tough. Sunday night was awful. It was an awful feeling. You obviously don't want to miss out on those kinds of opportunities, but, like I said, it's motivation.
"We know we have a chance to continue to do something special, and that's what we're going to try to do, and it starts today, I guess. Guys are going to get away. If you've got family stuff to deal with, people go home, see their loved ones, and all that kind of stuff, but we get right back to it pretty soon.
"I think somebody said we're only like 68 days away from Phase One, and I'm excited to do that, and be part of that, and hit the ground running, moving forward."
